Mooseworld is the home page for Paul "Moose" Gentle, Anne Gentle, and our sons, Evan and Nathan. Below is a list of links available on this site so far.

  • Photo Gallery - This is our Gallery page, containing over 7000 pictures with more being added all the time. Email me for a username and password if you'd like to peruse the albums.
  • Gentlefolk Photo Gallery - This is Stan and Judi Gentle's Gallery page. Feel free to take a look.

Here's a list of links to photo albums I created before we had our Gallery site.

  • dnet Austin trip September 2000 - This was our first trip to Austin. Paul got to meet the team at United Devices and interview for a position there. We visited Mount Bonnell and Lake Travis and got to see the famous bats of the Congress Street bridge.
  • "New" 1999 Jeep - Paul finally got to buy his favorite vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler. We sold it after we found out we were having Evan, but enjoyed it immensely for a few years.
  • Tadpoles 2001 - We've had quite a few interesting visitors to our pond. Here are some pictures of the frogs and tadpoles that have visited.
  • Kittens 2001 - These are pictures of our two kittens, Chuck and Stu, the first few weeks after we adopted them.
  • Fourth of July cookout 2001 - We had a little cookout for Fourth of July with the d.net gang.
  • Hilton Head/Disney vacation September 2001 - As Paul put it, this vacation was all about doing nothing. We did a whole lot of not much in Hilton Head, South Carolina at a friend's condo on the beach. It was a great week to be there because it was Labor Day weekend and Paul's birthday, lucky duck! Since we flew in and out of Orlando, we also got to visit Epcot for a day.

About Us

We moved to Austin Texas in December of 2000 for a new job opportunity for Paul. Paul worked as IT manager and senior quality engineer for United Devices, a distributed computing start up company in Austin Texas until 2005, and now works as a system administrator at the University of Texas University Health Services center. Anne works for Advanced Solutions International as a senior technical writer. We bought our first house shortly after moving to Austin. Evan came into our lives in September of 2003 and Nathan was born in October of 2006.

Anne's Interests

In 2002, I participated in a neat event that I want to tell others about, called the Accessibility Internet Rally for Austin. It was a one-day web design competition. I recruited a few of my fellow writers at BMC Software and we learned a lot about how to write web pages so that blind people's software readers can read it aloud to them. Imagine turning your computer monitor off and trying to book an airline flight, or to find out when a movie starts! That is what the Internet is like for blind computer users every day. Websites can be designed to better accomodate differently abled computer users.

In 2004, I presented a paper at the 51st Annual STC Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The STC is the Society for Technical Communication. My paper, Integrating Partner Information Using XML and XSLT by Anne Gentle, is also published on the WinWriters web site as a featured article.

I am currently keeping up with two book clubs, which keeps me quite busy reading. I always take time to read the latest Harry Potter book, though.

Please take a look at Anne Gentle's resume, which is up-to-date. Here's her amazon wish list too.

In the fall of 2005, I started blogging for my employer, BMC Software, at talk.bmc.com. Feel free to come over and comment on my blog, Exploring Information Design and Development. When I left BMC in 2007 for ASI, I started a new blog at justwriteclick.com

Paul's Interests

Paul volunteers with distributed.net, a distributed computing advocacy group. He also enjoys keeping all his computers running at home, including the mooseworld.org web server and our Gallery site. Paul's resume is available on this site as a PDF file.

His amazon wish list is always up-to-date.

Paul has been working on our backyard for a while now, as it constantly needs weeding and trimming. This spring we filled at least 3 dozen lawn bags.
