Wednesday September 5, 2001 was Paul's 28th birthday! When Paul woke up in the morning I gave him his birthday present -- a Jeep hat!
This is another view of the lighthouse at Harbor Town, which we visited again.
We then went out to the beach in the afternoon. It was a wonderful day and we went walking pretty far along the beach at low tide. For dinner, we went back to Harbour Town and ate at the Quarter Deck, which has a beautiful view.
Later that night I gave him a cake with a big two and eight candle.
The next day, it was really windy sitting on the beach, so we decided to rent bikes after eating lunch at Fuddruckers. We should have figured that it would still be windy on the beach and difficult to ride back, but we didn't think that far ahead. We rented bikes at Pedals and rode back along Cordillo. We then went to the public beach point by the Marriott and rode towards Sea Pines. The wind was at our back on the way out and it was a lot of fun. However, the ride back was really really difficult! We ended up walking back much of the way. A woman runner went by us and commented, the wind is terrible, isn't it! We got back on the bikes and still couldn't keep up with her, she was moving fast, even against the strong wind.
My crazy hair should indicate how windy it really was.
We went to Shelter Cove for the sunset, which was really beautiful but all the pictures don't do it justice.
This is a picture of us with the sun setting behind us at Shelter Cove. Disney's beach resort is at Shelter Cove.
This large boat was at Shelter Cove. It had been restored in 1998 and had beautiful wood on the interior and exterior.
Notice the Ashland University (in the town where Paul's from) and Miami University (the school we both attended and where we met) banners above Paul's head. These were in a Fuddrucker's in Hilton Head!
This statue is at Shelter Cove.
We finally had to say good-bye to sweet Hilton Head Island with another beautiful sunset. On to Orlando the next day.
